Derek Ball has been a leader in the field of emerging technology for over a decade. He was one of the first involved in the client / server paradigm shift, then the Internet wave, and now is a key player in the rapidly emerging wireless technology market. Derek's experience with emerging technologies extends beyond the theoretical and deeply into the practical, as he has been involved in over a hundred live installs of emerging technology for large corporations. Derek's extensive experience has resulted in his being a much sought after speaker at conferences and seminars around the world including the International Sybase Users Conference Asia Pacific (Sydney Australia), The Turkish National Information Technology Congress (Istanbul, Turkey), The Northwest PowerBuilder Users Group (Seattle, USA), Client/Server Conference 96 (Calgary, Canada), Canadian Information Processing Society (Vancouver, Canada), The World Tour With PowerBuilder (26 North American cities), and many others. To date, he has authored 7 books on emerging technology, and over 40 periodical articles. Derek is currently authoring three books due out in the next six months on topics including Pocket PC applications development, Bluetooth, and the Compaq iPaq. Derek has also taught emerging technology at the post secondary level, instructing for the University of Calgary.

In his experience, Jason has led or participated in the market introduction and development of fax over IP technology, remote wireless data management services leveraging LEO satellites, knowledge management and workflow automation software and Microsoft application development and software integration services.
